Custom doorstops…or whatever you want them to be!

Custom doorstops…or whatever you want them to be!
My version of doorstops/decor

So I had some scrap materials left over from my pergola adventure this summer (don’t worry, I’ll post the pergola project once I finally get the cover on top). I saw a posting on Pinterest where a blogger (momtastic.com) made a doorstop/custom message board/whatever you want to call it with left over materials she had lying around the house. I saw the post and thought it was a cute and super cheap/creative way to use up some of the left over materials.

Now, with that said, most of the materials I had on hand, but I did have to purchase a few, namely the glass knobs and a few furniture legs. I did, however, find the knobs on sale at Hobby Lobby and the finials were on clearance. The flat decorative pieces were also a cheap purchase at Hobby Lobby, gotta love it when they have their sales.

With that said, here’s what I started with:

I cut the miscellaneous pieces of 4×4 to various heights.

I then cut various pieces of trim for the bottom of the posts.

Here’s a close up of the variety of knobs and finials.

Here’s the semi final product, the finials glued in place and everything caulked, ready for paint and antiquing.

Ta-da! The final product! My mom’s already told me she wants me to make some for her new home come the end of the month. Guess I’ve got to get busy and get them made!

Where will I use them you ask? Maybe out on the front porch for the fall, and then maybe they’ll make their way in and find a spot by the front door…that is till Taylor (my puppy) decides to use them as a great chew toy.

They look beautiful! You're so crafty. I have a problem of keeping leftover material until I have a big box full of it. I'm going to go through that box. Thanks for the idea!

    • Well, I can't take credit for the initial idea, but I did use up some of my spare materials! Post a pic on the Timeless page or message me when you finish your project, I'd love to see it!
